Remote Full-time Live

About Pulley

Pulley's mission is to make it easier for anyone to start a company. We believe that more startups should exist and that founder-led companies are more successful in the long term. With Pulley's cap table management tools, companies can better understand and optimize their equity for the long term. Starting a company is hard enough. Managing equity shouldn't be.

We're a high-performing team on a mission to redefine how early-stage leaders build and manage their companies in an AI-native world. As AI reshapes how businesses operate, we see a unique opportunity to reimagine equity and business management from the ground up. A brand-new, unsolved challenge that we're excited to tackle.

Pulley is growing quickly with over 4,000 customers, including startups like Linear, Runway, Fathom, and Roam. Our trajectory is fueled by top investors like Founders Fund, Stripe, General Catalyst, Caffeinated Capital, 8vc, Elad Gil, and other incredible angels. All of our growth has been organic, and we're expanding the team to meet the growing demand.

We're looking for passionate, execution-focused self-starters to help us build the next generation of tools for founders.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale the backend systems that power Pulley's product experience. This is a foundational role focused on developing reliable infrastructure, implementing data models and APIs, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact features for startup founders.

As a Senior Engineer, you'll own the implementation of complex backend features that span multiple services, contribute to architectural decisions, and help improve our data persistence layer. You'll work closely with product, design, and other engineers to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions while maintaining the high quality standards our customers depend on.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, values clean architecture and maintainable code, and wants to have direct impact on systems that power company-building at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and data models that support new product features and platform capabilities
  • Implement database schemas, migrations, and ensure data integrity across our persistence layer
  • Collaborate with frontend and product engineers to design APIs that enable seamless user experiences
  • Work with senior engineers to contribute to architectural decisions that improve system reliability and performance
  • Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to maintain engineering quality
  • Partner with PMs and designers to break down complex product requirements into technical implementations
  • Help improve our development processes and contribute to engineering best practices

What You Bring

  • 5-7 years of experience building backend systems in production environments
  • Strong proficiency in Go, with experience building scalable web services
  • Solid understanding of database design, SQL, and data modeling best practices
  • Experience with API design and working closely with frontend teams
  • Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and performance optimization
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in complex technical domains
  • Collaborative mindset and experience working in cross-functional teams
  • Bonus: Experience in fintech, legaltech, or other high-trust domains with complex data requirements

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • Unlimited PTO + Winter holiday break
  • Parental leave
  • Generous stipends for WFH, learning, wellness, and AI tools
  • 401(k) match (US) / Pension match (Canada)

Annual Salary Range: $140,000—$200,000 USD

The range above reflects the typical salary range for this role. The final offer will depend on factors such as your experience, interview performance, level, and other considerations assessed during the hiring process.
