Description Are you passionate about books and book covers? Amazon Publishing is looking for a creative, talented, and customer-obsessed Senior Art Director to join our team in Seattle/NYC to help build great experiences for authors, readers, and internal teams. Key job responsibilities ? Provide art direction for book cover designs that are high-concept, commercial, and iconic with the ability to translate across multiple formats. ? Demonstrate a deep understanding of digital and physical publishing, partnering with external book designers and illustrators to develop covers that deliver a versatile use of illustration, photography, and compositing with elevated typography. ? Demonstrate strong communication skills and be able to work effectively with internal stakeholders to navigate the multifaceted publisher requirements for successful cover assets. ? Understand the complexity of physical and online marketing, drive visual standards for different genres, and conduct data-driven design analysis. ? Implement process improvements to simplify creative workflows where possible. Drive innovation for authors and customers. ? Work collaboratively with internal teams such as the design, editorial, production and marketing teams. About The Team Amazon Publishing is the full-service publishing arm of Amazon. We publish emerging, bestselling and critically-acclaimed authors in digital, print, and audio formats. Our mission is to invent new avenues for connecting authors and readers worldwide. Basic Qualifications ? Strong design portfolio with 5+ years of experience designing romance, fantasy, and book club fiction book covers. ? Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with senior management with an intense customer focus. ? Experience working in deadline driven environment with production to adhere to cover and interior design schedule. ? Experience creating and evolving imprint-level design strategies with strong commercial focus. ? Ability to present cover designs and creative to partner teams for stakeholder sign-off. ? Understand and respond to marketing and merchandising performance data. Preferred Qualifications ? Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced environment. Strong bias for action. ? A solid understanding of the trends in visual design. ? Experience in commissioning and managing the creation and delivery of cover and interior artwork. ? Experience working in digital publishing ? demonstrating a working knowledge of file formats and image compression. ? A passion for design and love of books. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
