ETL QA Tester - 100% REMOTE, Must Work EST Hours

About the position The ETL Tester position at TEKsystems is a 4+ month W2 contract role that offers the flexibility of 100% remote work, requiring candidates to operate within Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity and performance of data pipelines within cloud environments, specifically focusing on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies. The successful candidate will engage in data analytics testing, which involves querying extensive datasets and validating them against established algorithms. In this role, the ETL Tester will collaborate closely with data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to gather ETL requirements and design comprehensive test scenarios. Responsibilities include developing and executing detailed test plans, test cases, and scripts for ETL processes, as well as validating data transformations, quality, and consistency across various GCP services. The position also entails performing end-to-end testing of data pipelines, which includes data ingestion, transformation, and loading into BigQuery. The ETL Tester will be responsible for identifying and reporting defects, ensuring timely resolution, and participating in code reviews to provide constructive feedback on ETL code. Monitoring and troubleshooting ETL jobs to guarantee smooth execution is also a critical aspect of this role. Additionally, the ETL Tester will create and maintain documentation related to ETL testing processes and best practices, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. , • Proven experience as an ETL tester, preferably with hands-on experience in GCP components (Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery). , • Strong SQL skills for data validation and querying (5+ years of experience). , • Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages. , • Knowledge of data modeling concepts and data warehousing. , • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. , • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. , • Good communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams. Nice-to-haves • GCP certification (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer). , • Experience with Apache Beam for Dataflow development. , • Understanding of data security and compliance requirements. , • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems. , • Working knowledge of Java. , • BigData experience is a strong nice to have as is NoSQL experience.
