Job Summary The Audio Post Production Engineer is a specialist in digitally integrating audio elements to create a complete soundtrack for Apple’s video and interactive deliverables. It will be their responsibility to ensure the audio portion of each video meets Apple’s high standards from a technical and creative point of view. Their primary responsibility will be to mix audio in a variety of formats including internal videos, broadcast TV advertising, online social content, theatrical trailers, short films and documentaries, audio for retail installations and launch videos--integrating music, dialog, recorded ambient sound and effects--all while having an ear for EQ, appropriate dynamic range and sound quality to be sure the final mix meets Apple’s standards. They will satisfy the sound specifications appropriate to the final deliverable, considering the acoustic properties of anything from a 5,000 seat Keynote venue to a pair of AirPods. When necessary they will conform audio sequences to match new versions created by the video editorial teams, record and edit voice overs, edit and sweeten dialog, create original sound design, conduct field recording, and perform music editing. With the help of our Audio Producer, they will be required to manage multiple projects simultaneously with diverse creative teams and will be responsible for effective time management of all their tasks. Key Qualifications At least 10 years of Audio Post Production experience in the disciplines of Film or Commercial TV, Radio and Web, as well as extensive experience with field recording, original sound design for linear and interactive platforms, and music editorial. Knowledge of Music Theory, Synthesis and Production Sound experience are a plus. Proficiency with Avid Pro Tools and Audio Post Production workflows, including Atmos mixing, broadcast TV commercial mixing, theatrical re-recording, audio conform, dialog editing, VO recording and direction, ADR, video synchronization and layback. The ideal candidate will have an ability to quickly interpret creative direction and offer additional creative ideas beyond the initial creative brief. They must also have a thorough appreciation and understanding of the creative process within a large organization and how to contribute effectively as part of a group creative effort. Description • Mix and Finalize audio for linear and interactive content. • Mix in Dolby Atmos for Spatial platforms. • Record and direct Voice talent. • Design original sound assets for linear and interactive platforms. • Ensure mixes translate to a broad range of devices, venues and broadcast delivery platforms. • Mix for a wide range of audio deliverable specifications and loudness standards for Broadcast and Web. • Perform world class creative work efficiently under tight deadlines. • Supervise the work of department Assistant Audio Engineers and Contractors to ensure consistency in the quality of audio deliverables. • Research and advise in the purchasing and implementation of Audio software and hardware. • Provide guidance on future technical upgrades and planning of audio mixing suites. • Collaborate with facilities teams and external vendors to optimize department audio workflows in service to the workflow of the entire video department. • Interface with our Audio Producer to optimize the use of the audio suites.
