In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the precision and thoroughness of patient claims, while strictly adhering to industry regulations. Key Responsibilities • Review and validate patient claims to ensure accuracy and completeness, while acquiring any necessary missing payer information. • Assign and sequence medical codes accurately in accordance with government and insurance regulations. • Guarantee compliance with medical coding guidelines and internal policies. • Verify the accuracy of patients’ charts and medical records. • Work in collaboration with team members to clarify any ambiguous information. • Gather physician-reported data from diverse sources to compile monthly reports. • Implement procedural enhancements and strategies to ensure accurate results and improve operational efficiency. • Assess and identify potential instances of medical malpractice by reviewing medical procedures and diagnoses that may relate to reported negligence. Required Skills • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT coding (including Category II and/or E/M coding). • Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g., eCW, EPIC). • Competence in MS Office applications. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. • Strong team collaboration skills complemented by a high degree of emotional intelligence. • Ability to make informed decisions that align with business objectives. Qualifications • Education: Associate degree in business, finance, health administration, or a related field is preferred. • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a primary care clinic setting is preferred. • Certification: Must hold valid Certified Medical Coder credentials from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CRC, CCS, CCS-P).
