We're seeking an experienced Leave of Absence Case Manager to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our employees.

About the Role

As a Leave of Absence Case Manager, you will be the single point of contact for employees throughout their leave of absence or disability event. You'll provide holistic case management services, including reviewing medical documentation, adjudicating leaves, and responding to changing circumstances and needs. Your exceptional communication and problem-solving skills will enable you to navigate complex situations, build strong relationships, and ensure a smooth return to work for employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate and respond to inquiries: Answer questions and provide information about leave and disability events, benefits, and options available to employees.
  • Case management services: Serve as a point of contact for assigned employees, reviewing medical documentation, adjudicating leaves, and responding to changing circumstances and needs.
  • Duration guidelines and best practices: Leverage tools and resources to support oversight of leave events and ensure compliance with leave plans, federal and state laws, and benefit plans.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving: Assess and adjust case management plans to address changing employee needs, troubleshoot issues, and remove barriers.
  • Sensitive situations and communication: Address and respond to sensitive situations, communicate regular updates to employees and stakeholders, and facilitate a smooth return to work and ramp-back plan.
  • Collaboration and partnership: Consult, coordinate, and partner with third-party administrators, HR, Safety, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and other departments/systems as needed.
  • Record-keeping and compliance: Maintain accurate and timely system records, ensure compliance with standard work, federal/state regulations, and company policy.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree: In business, HR, or a related field, or high school or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in customer service, human resource management, case management, or leave and disability management.
  • Technical skills: Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leave of Absence and Disability knowledge: Basic US legislation knowledge, specifically ADA/ADAAA and FMLA.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving: Ability to apply critical thinking and identify issues for problem solving.
  • Relationship-building and influence: Ability to build strong relationships and influence others in a cross-functional environment.
  • Communication and time management: Strong and demonstrated communication skills, verbal and written, and strong time management and ownership of deliverables.
  • Prior Leave and/or Accommodations experience: Previous work in a leave of absence and/or disability claim management role, with experience using case management systems, reviewing cases for eligibility, determining the appropriate leave and/or disability pay benefits, and establishing/executing a case management plan.
